Yoga and swimming and science and chocolate.

A little practice most days since I last blogged. I think the only day I skipped altogether (apart from Saturdays) was last Monday, when I had to - Had. To. - join my 4 year old nephew on his bed at 7am for stories, before moving on to the train set, and then breakfast, and then, well, the day had begun and no yoga had happened.

My longest practice for a while this morning, and rather than pointing out what I didn't do, let's go for the glass half empty approach of saying that I did a full practice up to and including navasana, then 3 backbends, a shoulder stand, halasana, full lotus fish, two dolphin, and a killer whale. Expert yogis may have spotted that I made one of those up.

Needed two goes to bind the first side of Marichyasana D, but I got there in the end.

I've also been swimming again over the past few weeks, and am back to doing 50 lengths and really enjoying them. I'm tempted to say 'yippee, I'm back, will do X, Y and Z EVERY DAY THIS WEEK. But I'll just wait and see. My aim for tomorrow is to go to Mysore class for the fist time in ages, and repeat the practice I did this morning.

Also, if you've not seen it, food for thought here (if I was a real blogger, I'd *so* have something to say about this. But as I'm a fickle post when and what I can be arsed type, I'll just say that I'm thinking 'about time' and 'please, please do it properly'.) http://www.elephantjournal.com/2012/04/breaking-news-ashtanga-to-become-science--steven-cahn/

Also, if you're vegan, or are looking for vegan gifts for others, food for, umm, food here (turns out a whole Easter egg by these guys at around 10pm before going to bed is a good pre-Sunday-morning-yoga snack. Who knew?): http://www.alternativestores.com/ethical-shop/Chocolate-amp-Sweets/Chocolate-Treats/Caramel-Chocolates/prod_3335.html No, they're not bribing me. I really, really wish they were though.

  1. Glad to hear you are getting to practice, love the made up posture name, though if you ever get to do EG's vinyasa class you may find she has invented it and knowing her it will be a killer!

Swimming, um never did learn to do that.

A Yorkie on Saturday night before Sunday morning Shala practice is the biz!

  2. Ha, yes, I did wonder what exactly the killer whale might look like as a pose.

Glad I'm not the only person to make the chocolate/practice link. Though chocolate bunny I ate last night let me down, no wonder-practice this morning for me.

  3. There are many different types of yoga and each has its own traits and benefits. By picking up the fundamental on each and every type of yoga, you can determine what is suitable for you.
